*Muktir Gaan (Song of Freedom): It is a documentary highlighting the impact of the cultural identity of the Bangladeshis on the War of Liberation in 1971. Music and song provided a source of inspiration to the Freedom Fighters in the war and emanated a moral and spiritual bond for the emerging nation. A troupe of Bangla cultural activists travels through refugee camps and battle zones. The rousing songs the troupe performed capture and depict the essence of the national ideology of the Bangladeshis. Directors Catherine and Tariq Masud used original footage by American filmmaker Lear Levin and other archival footage from the UN, the UK and India.

*Padma Nadir Mazhi (The Fishermen): A joint-venture production of Bangladesh and India, this film is directed by Gautum Ghosh. It portrays the life and feeling of a poor fisherman Kuber (Raisul Islam Asad). And through him, the life of the toiling mass is traversed. Hussen Mia (Utpol Dutt), a mysterious character, plays a passionate role picturing man's eternal urge to escape hard reality. With its unending hospitality, Mainadwip presents a haven for the suffering souls. The film asserts that life moves on with variety of spectra despite rejection and miseries, concluding with a message that man is invincible against all adversities.

*Agantuk (The Stranger):

Directed by Academy Award (lifetime achievement) winner Satyajit Ray, this film depicts the harmony between a long-lost man and so-called civilization. Anila (Mamata Shankar) receives her uncle Manmohan Mitra (Utpol Dutt) who returned after a lifetime of world travel. Although Anila's husband Sudhindra (Deepankar De) is suspicious that the man is an imposter, the villagers befriend him. This is the last film directed by Satyajit Ray, the Master Film Maker.

*Dipu Number Two (Dipu Number Two): Directed by Murshedul Islam, this movie is a magnificent piece of art, very entertaining and exciting to children, full of fun and humor, yet educating. It portrays Dipu and his gang as daring adventurers. The parents (Bulbul Ahmed and Bobita) handle each episode with utmost sensitivity.

Lal Darja (The Red Door): Directed by Budhadev Dasgupta, this film depicts the impact of dereliction and it was nominated for Academy Award in foreign film category. A prominent dentist, Dr. Nabin Datta (Subhendu Chatterjee) is fearful that his limbs are being crippled. His wife leaves him to live alone. The son refuses to talk to him. He searches for meaning of what is happening: He was deluged with bewildering thoughts and ideas. He even talks to an underworld thug about having his estranged wife killed. He delves into the life of his cheffeur, the happy-go-lucky Dinu (Raisul Islam Asad), who has two wives and a mistress. In the end, he returns to the magical possibilities of his childhood when he could open doors using lullaby.

Seku Sikander (Seku Sikander): It is a BTV (Bangladesh TV) drama that presents a scenario of jealousy and a estate-owner's jeopardy. Ali Zaker, the estate-owner, decides to bequest his estate to loyal servant Seku (Joyento Chatterjee) and finalizes deed. The story turns into a conflict as, soon after, the owner's son surfaced from nowhere, whom the father had long ago given up for lost. The drama was aired on Japan National TV.
